Migration preparation

Move a hostname to a replacement VPS carefully

Moving a hostname is a coordinated application change, not only a DNS edit.

The first useful check

Moving a hostname is a coordinated application change, not only a DNS edit.

Inputs and prerequisites

Inventory the current endpoint, records, certificate handling, data writes, background jobs and clients that cache the name. Decide how you will return to the previous service if the new path fails.

A small, reversible procedure

Prepare the replacement service, test it under a separate name or path where possible, make the record change, then verify the intended request and write path. Keep the old service available only as long as your plan requires.

What to record after the check

Record the record change, prior value, test result, rollback trigger and the time you observed each result.

Scope and service boundary

This does not promise instant DNS propagation, zero interruption or an OffVPS migration service. Malaysia, Romania and Switzerland are server-country choices; they do not establish a backup country, facility detail, stock or measured network result.
